Jessie Bethel HS Cars on the Quad Show, April 12, 2018

The sunrise was abnormally bright from the east while the skyline was a brilliant blue without a cloud in the sky, and the temperature throughout the day rose to the mid-seventies and/or low 80's. About 7:30 am, a few dozen classics from the club rendezvoused at the Bank of America parking lot before driving to Jesse Bethel High School to participate in the annual "Cars On The Quad" car show - all proceeds benefit the Jesse Bethel Athletic Booster Association. During the trophy ceremony, the host announced that BUTH provided 32 of the 79 cars that entered the show. Additional cars were provided by Swanx Car Club and a local motorcycle club provide few dozen beautiful bikes. Throughout the morning, car owners wiped and shined their cars in preparation for inspection by the judges and voting spectators.

"Cars on the Quad" Music was provided by a local radio station - several local vendors supplied the BBQ and refreshments - entertainment was provided by the Jesse Bethel HS cheer and dance clubs. Voting and judging took place throughout the day, but counting the votes took place about 1:30 pm. We are proud to announce that our very own Mary Morrow won Best in Show with her 1965 Chevelle, Joe Gracie won 2nd Place Athletic Award with his 1969 Camaro SS, and Joe Jester was also a big winner with his 1957 Chevy Bel Air entry. At the conclusion, we were informed that BUTH provided 32 of the 79 car entries.

Boyz Under The Hood Cars n Coffee, April 15, 2018

The April BUTH Cars n Coffee was another excellent event in which several visiting participants (along with 20 club cars) showcased their cars to a few dozen spectators. The new exhibits included a British MG, a 53 Chevy Pickup truck, a 1931 Victoria classic, two beautiful 1957 Chevrolet cars. The gathering hosted about 25 cars, and entertained dozens who wanted to see the cars up close and ask questions about the restoration, drive-trains, and special paints. In fact, most of us were so busy talking we forgot to get refreshments - but we had a great time anyhow.

Boyz Under The Hood Cars n Coffee, March 18, 2018

It was a beautiful day as the rainy weather retreated on Sunday. The club hosted its third Cars n Coffee, with about 20 or so classic entries ... the newest of which was a 1964 Dodge Dart. The clubs' cars n coffee is gaining more popularity, and we had more pedestrians stop to inspect the cars. This weekends crowd exceeded 100 visitors. From my vantage, the 1965 Ford Mustang GT was the big hit and supposedly is all original. Lastly, Ralph Halford brought out his big red Plymouth (Hemi) - wow...did it look hot.

Paddock Bowl Car Cruise, March 10, 2018

Club bowling enthusiast met at Paddock Bowl in Pacheco to participate in the club annual bowl. More than a dozen club members and their guests bowled throughout, including Jeff Singley, Mary & Tom Morrow, Joe and Sharan Gracie, Steven and Dawna, Steve Lane, Curt & Stephanie Albrecht, Tom & Gina Duncan, Dan & Cristy Cordeiro, and others. The gang began bowling around 1100 and finished the day having lunch at a nearby drive-end restaurant. The gang took 5 classics, including Cordeiro's recent purchase - a red 1932 Ford Roadster. Lastly, don't ask who was the best bowler. They all claim that distinction, indicating that they just had an off day.

Bowling Exploits ... Joe and Sharan Gracie took part at the Paddock Bowl event. After bowling, the gang decided to stop at a drive-in restaurant for ice cream. As the gang got on the freeway, Sharan was separated from the group. When she entered the freeway, she punched it to catch the gang but immediately noticed the flashing red and blue lights of CHP flagging her over. When the officer asked why she was speeding (87 mph), she explained to him that she was trying to catch up with club members - including a blue and white Chevy ahead of them. After telling her story, the officer said he too was trying to catch that same blue and white Chevy, but stopped her instead. Not knowing at the time ... it turns out Sharan ran interference for Tom and the gang. The officer accepted her explanation and released her with a warning. When she rejoined the gang, they all gave her a big round of applause... article by Joe Gracie
